Not much has changed on the Hevy Music Festival site today.

Today’s photos:

The main stage has had a covering attached. It looked like silver duct tape from a distance.

An even closer view of the back of the main stage. I couldn’t see the ‘third stage’ anywhere though.

This might be the ‘main entrance’ coming in off the road, but I’m not sure.

A new sign appeared on one of the trees on the perimeter of the seafront concrete plateau area. The rest of the area to the left of the compound (where the rest of the seaside funfair used to be) has been fenced / taped off.

Weather is looking kinda ok tomorrow, so hopefully we will have some sun, but there is possible rain in the afternoon.

More photos tomorrow of the event, from any possible vantage point, and maybe a zoom lens.

Seems today has been quite eventful on the Hevy Music Festival Site…….

I guess the wind has taken revenge on any unnatural structures in it’s path, as the fencing around the Hevy compound took a kicking today.

A lot of the fencing had buckled over. On the day it went up I thought it looked pretty heavy duty, and it wasn’t particularly windy today, but somehow it took a tumble.

Hope they get this all sorted for the event, wouldn’t want this happening with people on the other side.

Also looks like the third stage was going up (to the right of the JCB).

More activity today with the main fence perimeter looking like it’s all complete, and to be honest, the ‘Festival’ site looks pretty small.

Today I can confirm we have activity, portaloos, workmen, fencing, the lot, all on the Hevy Music Festival site.

The photos:

The overall site is a lot busier than yesterday, with marquees and fencing being erected on the roadside entrance.

Seems the portaloos are getting placed around the site.

The fencing is about 10ft tall, not sure if this will be placed around the entire site, if so, it will block any potential ‘non payees’ from seeing much. Well, apart from all the people who live in Marine Crescent who will have an awesome view (depending on stage position etc).

There wasn’t much fencing waiting to be erected in this stack, but they could well have more.

Hevy Music Festival is coming to Folkestone this Saturday the 1st of August, and will take place on Folkestone seafront.

No information has been released about where it actually be situated, but judging by the carparks they are using it will more than likely be on the old Funfair / Sunday Market area (as I can’t see where it else it could go anyway).

So everday we will post a photo overlooking the supposed scene to see the buildup. The first is below :

No activity as of yet, and only 4.5 days to go.

Another issue the organisers are going to have ( if it is held here ) will be the rubble left behind after the Dome Arcade etc (R.I.P) was demolished. Surely they will have to clear this up and remove the weeds etc, before anything can take place.

We shall wait and see.

Luckily, Mr Wayne Reeves who runs Gallery 49 down the Old High Street had informed us that a friend of his has a blues band who were due to play at The Lifeboat Pub (Lifeboat Pub, North Street, Folkestone, Kent, CT19 6AF) so we decided to pay a visit.

We had previously been a patron at the pub due to its excellent garden, which on a glorious day is bathed in sunshine, and even offers views to the harbour from the top benches.

Walking into the pub we were blasted by the volume of the music, which was a little bit too loud for a small pub like that, but those hardy blues fans were loving it.

We grabbed the drinks, and went out to take in some of the sun, but it wasn’t to last so we scuttled back inside when the rain started to drop and took a seat. I even saw some complimentary bowls of mini sausage rolls doing the rounds.

Wayne (who is also partial to a bit of drumming) then informed us that he was due a guestspot on an upcoming song.

We recommend The Lifeboat. It’s a proper pub, with friendly regulars, quality live music, real ales and one of the best pub gardens you will find.

Annie Soudain … “Birds – Flowers – Fruit ”

An exhibition of Paintings, Linoprints and Heritage Toys 2nd to 31st May

Born near Dover in Kent she studied for four years at the then Canterbury College of Art. Taught art in Brighton, left to have three children and lived for several years on boats in England and France before settling by the sea in Sussex.

Following an exhibition at Folkestone’s Metropole Arts Centre, Annie was one of several artists from the South-East selected to contribute work for the cabins of a refurbished Saga cruise ship, the Saga Rose. She was also commissioned to paint three large panels for a bar area, and later, when the ship underwent further refurbishment, three even larger panels were commissioned and installed, depicting ‘Birds, Flowers, and Fruit of the World’.

Commissioned to decorate a life-size fibreglass cow for CowParade London 2002. ‘Dawn Cowrus’ (Annie covered the cow with birds) stood in the grounds of the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood throughout the summer and autumn of that year. It was voted ‘CowParade Champion’ in a Farmer’s Weekly poll and was later auctioned at the Royal Smithfield Show to raise money for charity.

It looks like it will be on the massive concrete apron that has been left behind since the Rotunda etc were demolished and the Sunday Market moved elsewhere.

Running at £48 for one day, (which seems a bit steep to me) I wonder how they will stop people from just standing on the beach or alongside the road and listening in, as surely they can’t close it all off?
