A drizzly Sunday relaxing indoors, was enlivened by the throaty roar of (what I thought at the time to be – see comment below), a Mustang flying over the sea, past our flat. Presumably linked to the Euromilitaire event on at the Leas Cliff Hall…

We at Spacious and Gracious have been known to splash about a bit in the sea. This painting, by David Lay, of a young man purposefully striding into the water, could almost represent a member of FOWSC (Folkestone Open Water Swimming Club). So we will be interested to see his exhibition of images of the sea, currently showing at the Chimera gallery, in Tontine Street. The show is called “Not Waving”, and it runs till 4th Oct. Go to his website www.davidlay.org for more details, or use our link to The Chimera gallery for opening times.
You may have noticed that down Tontine Street a new music/lounging/drinking venue is alive.
Up and running in the now closed Bank Gallery at number 46, Adam, one of the brains behind Orange Street Music Club, Canterbury, has opened up this new sister location.
The S&G team paid a visit on the opening weekend at the end of August, and was very pleased to find the locals making use of the new amenities.
With the Leas Lift no longer in service, and the steps up from the Cow Path on the eastern side of the Leas Cliff Hall blocked off longterm, routes up from the Coastal park area are limited.
So, after an invigorating sea swim, we at S&G, often like to nip up the ‘Secret Steps’ between the Zig-zag path, and the western side of the Leas Cliff Hall.
Stopped for a while to listen to the brassband playing at the Leas Bandstand. Beatlemania is everywhere at the moment. We present this Lennon and McCartney classic, played by the Crystal Palace Band, for your enjoyment.
We spotted this rogue rabbit whilst out walking in the Holywell area of Folkestone. Unlike the numerous claimed sightings of big cats, this animal was definitely real, of normal size, and really has either escaped captivity, or been abandoned.
Here at S&G HQ we realy do love the 80’s. We even selected the ultimate playlist for a couple of 80’s parties around a friends house, we love it that much.
So imagine how we are loving to hear that 80’s Mania are going to be performing at the Leas Cliff Hall at the end of September.
I even have a video here to wet your 80’s whistle.
Hello there! After an impromptu summer break, the S&G team are back to spread the word about our lovely Folkestone.
Due to the summer beauty we were bathed with here down in Folkestone (the most hours of sunshine for the whole of the country) we could be found, splashing around in the sea, swimming out to buoys, sunbathing down the beach hut, or a combination of those with a touch of music, nature, exploration, beverages and football thrown in for good luck.
Keep them peeled, and keep checking back for new articles!
It’s time for HEVY WATCH #05.
Not much has changed on the Hevy Music Festival site today.
Welcome to day four of Hevy Watch.
Seems today has been quite eventful on the Hevy Music Festival Site…….
It’s time for Hevy Watch #03.
More activity today with the main fence perimeter looking like it’s all complete, and to be honest, the ‘Festival’ site looks pretty small.
Welcome to HEVY Watch #02.
Today I can confirm we have activity, portaloos, workmen, fencing, the lot, all on the Hevy Music Festival site.
